Start wrapping up - Test singularities of kurtosis statistics
- 16 August 2015
As we are reaching the end of the GSoC coding period, I am starting to wrap up the code that I developed this summer.
Attempt to further improve the diffusion standard statistics
- 14 August 2015
The denoising strategy that I used to improve the diffusion standard statistics (see my last post), required the estimation of the noise standard deviation (sigma). As a first approach, I used a simple sigma estimation procedure that was specifically developed for T1-weighted images. Thus, this might not be the most adequate approach for diffusion-weighted images.
Further improvements on the diffusion standard statistics

As I mentioned in my last post, I used the implemented modules to process data acquired with similar parameters to one of the largest worldwide projects, the Human Connectome project. Considering that I was fitting the diffusion kurtosis model with practically no pre-processing steps, which are normally required on diffusion kurtosis imaging, kurtosis reconstructions were looking very good (see Figure 2 of my last post).

We are almost getting to the end of the GSoC coding period ðŸ˜.
Progress Report on Diffusion Kurtosis Imaging (DKI) Implementation

Progress is going as planned in my mid-term summary :).
Perpendicular directions samples relative to a given vector
- 09 July 2015
As I mentioned in the mid-term summary, one of my next steps is to implement some numerical methods to compute the standard kurtosis measures to evaluate their analytical solution.
Mid-Term Summary
- 02 July 2015
We are now at the middle of the GSoC 2015 coding period, so it is time to summarize the progress done so far and update the plan for the work of the second half part of the program.

I have done great progresses on the 2 last weeks of coding!!! In particular, two major achievements were accomplished:
